Why Iceland Feels So Powerful For Women Over 50
Iceland has a way of making the world feel both bigger and simpler. You spend your days among waterfalls, lava fields, glacier lagoons, and black sand beaches, and the scale of the landscape does something to your perspective. Reykjavik adds a cozy counterpoint with cafes, design shops, and a calm urban feel, but the real draw is the volcanic, windswept beauty beyond the city.
For women over 50, Iceland works very well in a small group because so much of the experience happens on the road and in the timing of the day. Weather can shift, distances matter, and it helps enormously to have the route and logistics handled well. Then you can simply enjoy the scenery, the quiet, and seasonal moments like the Northern Lights or the endless glow of the midnight sun.
Iceland is also a strong solo destination because the group becomes part of the comfort and the fun. Shared awe matters here, whether you are standing near a waterfall, soaking in geothermal water, or waiting together under a dark sky for the aurora to appear. Many women find that those shared moments turn a beautiful trip into something unforgettable.
What Women Say About Our Iceland Tours
Cindy S.
4 trips
"I have met women on every trip with whom I have stayed in touch; traveled with on our own; traveled to their homes for a visit; or who have traveled to visit me at my home or my winter vacation home. These friendships have been unexpected and surprise blessing of traveling with the Tribe."

"This trip was epic! I don’t believe in coincidence. I think this group of women and Sakai and Agnes were meant to be together at this exact date, time and country. The stars aligned. Every event was so well planned. Sakai was an excellent tour leader. He was personable and has the skill to handle all types of personalities."

"Over all it was an amazing trip. Starting out at the Blue Lagoon could not have been better. Our driver was a delight. She stopped at some extra places along our routes and took special care of some who had some health issues. I particularly enjoyed meeting the native Icelandic people: our guide in Akureyri was wonderful, full of local stories and folklore. The guides on the whale watch and the man who took us out to see the northern lights were also good. I cannot pick a favorite moment, there were too many."

Iceland
"This trip was everything I hoped Iceland would be. The beauty of this country was awe-inspiring. The team did an excellent job keeping us informed of the changing weather conditions, and the need to revise some of our plans. They did a wonderful job with providing other experiences to offset those which were canceled due to the weather. It was nice of the tour operator to also cover expenses for additional meals as a form of compensation for what we missed.....a nice touch."

"Awesome tour leader. They did a fantastic job of taking care of every detail from the time we cleared customs at the airport to taking us back to the airport at the end of the tour."

"Very organized and exciting with Liz as our tour leader. It was my first organized tour and first time with the Women Travel Tribe. Getting to know the other travelers added to the experience. Liz took care of us and was genuinely interested in our safety and enjoyment of each activity. I would be lying if I named one favorite moment. Every site was more spectacular than the next. The Katla Ice Cave tour was certainly a moment I did not expect. It was both scary and exhilarating."
