Morocco
Ancient Cities and Desert Dreams
Morocco doesn’t whisper. It invites you in boldly, beautifully, and with open arms. This journey is designed for women who feel ready for something vivid and immersive: a place where color, texture, sound, and story are woven into everyday life, and where connection happens naturally through shared moments and human warmth.
Over nearly two weeks, we travel from imperial cities to ancient medinas, across dramatic mountain ranges, into the heart of the Sahara Desert, and finally to the sensory whirlwind of Marrakech. Along the way, we move through landscapes that shift constantly - from Roman ruins and fertile valleys to rose-colored canyons and endless sand dunes - while staying in comfortable and welcoming riads, desert camps, and heritage properties that anchor us in place.
This is a journey filled with moments that stay with you: wandering labyrinthine markets, sharing meals in local homes, learning directly from women who live far from the tourist trail, watching the sun set over the Sahara, and sitting beneath a sky filled with stars. It’s active and engaging, but always grounded in care, comfort, and thoughtful pacing.
Traveling in a small, women-only group allows you to experience Morocco with confidence and curiosity, supported and free to fully take it in. If you’re craving a trip that feels alive, textured, and deeply memorable, Morocco offers something extraordinary.
Itinerary
Your Moroccan adventure begins in Casablanca. After arriving, you’ll be met by a private driver and transferred to your centrally located hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to rest, recover from travel, and meet your fellow travelers.
In the evening, we gather for a relaxed orientation followed by our welcome dinner - the first shared meal of the journey and the beginning of what quickly becomes a close-knit group experience!
This morning we head north to Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital and one of its most quietly beautiful cities. On a guided walk through the historic center, we explore calm lanes, impressive architecture, and a side of Morocco that feels refined and lived-in rather than touristic. After lunch in the old town, we continue on to the imperial city of Fes.
Arriving in Fes in the late afternoon, we check into our stunning riad inside the medina. After a short rest, we finish the day with dinner prepared by our welcoming hosts - a warm, atmospheric introduction to one of Morocco’s most fascinating cities.
Today we dive headfirst into the ancient medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world. Entering through the main gate, we explore colorful souks, leather tanneries, traditional weaving workshops, and a remarkable variety of crafts that continue exactly as they have for centuries.
We visit a beautiful mosque, wander spice-filled markets, and observe artisans at work in settings that feel unchanged by time. After the guided portion of the walk, you’ll have free time to explore, shop, or simply soak in the atmosphere before dinner.
This is Morocco at its most intense, fascinating, and unforgettable.
After a relaxed breakfast, we drive into the countryside to visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis - a remarkably preserved site set among rolling hills. Walking among mosaics, columns, and ancient homes, it’s easy to imagine daily life here nearly 2,000 years ago.
From there, we continue to Morocco’s main wine region for a tasting at a local winery. Morocco’s wine industry is growing and gaining recognition, and you’ll sample several distinctive varieties before enjoying lunch nearby.
We return to Fes in the afternoon for a quieter evening and some free time to soak up the atmosphere of this city on your own.
Today is a journey day - and one of the most scenic of the trip. Crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains, we stop in the alpine-style town of Ifrane, pass through forests home to Barbary apes, and descend into the lush Ziz Valley, one of the largest date-producing areas in the world.
By late afternoon, the landscape shifts dramatically as we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. We check into our riad just in time to watch the sun sink into the dunes - a moment that often becomes a highlight of the entire journey.
Our dinner tonight will be at our beautiful riad, in a setting that feels part fairy tale and part remote desert oasis.
After breakfast, we visit a local Gnoua village to learn about the daily life and traditions of this community from sub-Saharan Africa. We'll take time to meet villagers and listen to their unique style of traditional music that has gained fame worldwide. We'll then sit down for lunch in the village, with an opportunity to try local dishes from this faraway corner of Morocco.
In the afternoon, you choose your adventure: a camel trek across the dunes or a jeep ride through the rolling sands of Erg Chebbi. Both options will take you to our Sahara Desert Camp as the light softens and the landscape glows. The evening is spent enjoying traditional music around the campfire, wonderful food, stargazing, and the rare quiet that only the magical desert provides.
You'll then be able to sleep among total peace and quiet from the comfort of your well-appointed yurt, complete with private bathroom, hot water and all standard amenities.
We begin the day with an optional sunrise over the dunes before breakfast at our camp. We'll then return by jeep to Merzouga, with one last ride over the dunes. From there, we load up our van once again and travel toward the Dades Valley, stopping at villages and a unique fossil workshop in Erfoud, where ancient marine fossils are found beneath the desert floor.
Crossing the Jebel Sahro Mountains, we arrive in the stunning Dades Valley where we'll get our first glimpse of this surreal location from a viewpoint in front of the Monkey Fingers Gorge.
After settling into our riad, we'll enjoy a local dinner prepared by our hosts. We'll then head to sleep before our full day ahead.
Today is devoted to exploring the dramatic landscapes of the Dades region - high deserts, valleys, remote villages, and breathtaking scenery that few travelers ever see. With our local contacts, we head off in 4x4 vehicles to visit isolated nomadic communities, pass through the remote town of Bou Tharar, and experience a side of Morocco that feels raw, expansive, and deeply moving.
We'll take plenty of stops to admire the nature around us, enjoy some tea and interact with the locals who call this mountain area home.
In the late afternoon, we'll return to our accommodation for a rest before dinner.
This day centers on community and connection. We visit the home of a local family in the Dades Valley, spending time with several generations of women who share stories, daily life, and traditional cooking with us. There’s also the option to receive henna tattoos, a meaningful and joyful cultural tradition.
We then wander through two villages, meet local Berbers, explore ancient kasbahs, and take a short stroll through the surreal Monkey Fingers Gorge.
It’s a day that will be one of the most emotionally rich experiences of the trip.
After breakfast, we journey toward the great city of Marrakech, crossing the impressive High Atlas Mountains en route. During this all-day journey, we stop in the film-studio town of Ouarzazate and in the quiet village of Tisseldei for lunch overlooking the valley. We'll also stop at lookout points across the mountains for snacks and restrooms.
By evening, we arrive in Marrakech and check into our hotel. After a rest, we enjoy dinner nearby, easing into the energy of the bustling city.
There is no other medina (walled city) quite like Marrakech. It's full of bustling markets, incredible architecture, centuries old crafts, intense colors and aromas, constant celebrations and a positive vibe that is truly contagious.
We move slowly today on our guided tour, allowing time to explore hidden corners and soak in the atmosphere of a variety of sections of this historic city. We'll eventually complete our tour in the bustling main square, where you'll have free time to shop, wander or people watch before gathering for dinner near the historic center.
Your final full day is free to enjoy Marrakech in your own way. You might wander the souks, relax at a luxury hammam, visit museums, relax from a rooftop café, or simply rest at the hotel. Your tour leader will be on hand to assist with any plans.
In the evening, we come together for our final group dinner - a celebratory close to a journey filled with color, connection, and unforgettable moments.
Private transfers to the Marrakech Airport are arranged according to your flight time. For those departing from Casablanca, a private transfer can be arranged at an additional cost. The transfer takes 2.5 hours from Marrakech.
