Greece
History, Tradition and Island Life
May 2-13, 2027
About Our Greece Tour
This Greece journey is designed for women who want to experience the country beyond postcards and crowds - slowly, thoughtfully, and with room to truly enjoy each place. Over nearly two weeks, we move from the ancient heart of Athens to sacred mountain sites, then into the easy rhythm of the Cycladic islands, blending history, everyday culture, food traditions, and plenty of time to simply be.
We begin in Athens, where layers of history stretch from antiquity to modern life. With expert local guides, we explore iconic sites such as the Acropolis and Parthenon, but also make space for quieter moments such as wandering old neighborhoods, enjoying simple local flavors, and taking in the city at a human pace. A hands-on weaving experience offers a beautiful connection to Greek domestic traditions that have shaped daily life for centuries, grounding the ancient stories in something tactile and personal.
From there, the journey carries us inland to Delphi and the mountains of central Greece, then onward through wine country and into Nafplio, where elegance, sea air, and history blend effortlessly. These days balance learning with comfort - scenic drives, thoughtful visits, and shared meals - allowing the story of Greece to unfold naturally rather than feeling rushed or overwhelming.
The second half of the trip slows even further as we move into island life on Naxos and Paros. Here, days are shaped by cooking with local ingredients, wandering villages, swimming or resting by the sea, and enjoying the simple pleasure of good food and open time. There is no pressure to do everything, only gentle invitations to explore, rest, or follow your curiosity. Traveling in a small, women-only group creates an atmosphere of ease and camaraderie, where everyone feels supported and free to experience Greece in her own way.
This journey is especially well suited for women 50+ who value depth over speed, authenticity over spectacle, and travel that feels nourishing rather than demanding. If you’re drawn to Greece not just for its beauty, but for the way it invites you to slow down and savor life, this trip offers exactly that.
Daily Itinerary
Welcome to Greece! Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to our hotel near the city center — a smooth, easy start designed to help you settle in comfortably. After time to rest and refresh, we’ll gather for a relaxed orientation and our first shared dinner together at one of Athens’ best restaurants, offering a warm introduction to Greek cuisine and the days ahead.
This evening is about easing into the journey, meeting the women you’ll be traveling with, and letting the atmosphere of Greece gently unfold.
Today we explore Athens with an expert guide who brings the city’s long and layered history into clear focus. We visit the Acropolis and Parthenon, followed by other important landmarks including the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, and the marble Kallimarmaro Stadium, built for the first modern Olympic Games.
We then wander the narrow streets of Plaka, where ancient ruins sit alongside cafés and small shops, before visiting the Acropolis Museum to deepen our understanding of what we’ve seen. Along the way, we pause for simple local tastes — including souvlaki and Greek coffee — before sitting down for lunch at a neighborhood taverna.
The evening is free to enjoy at your own pace, whether that means a gentle walk through lively neighborhoods, a rooftop drink with Acropolis views, or simply relaxing after a full and meaningful day.
This morning we step into the world of Greek weaving, guided by a skilled artisan who shares how textile traditions have shaped everyday life from antiquity to the present. We take part in the process ourselves — preparing wool, setting threads, and weaving a small piece to take home — creating a tangible connection to Greek domestic culture.
The afternoon is free for you to enjoy Athens as you wish. Options include strolling through the National Garden, visiting a museum, browsing food shops and markets, or lingering over coffee in one of the city’s elegant neighborhoods. In the evening, we come together again for dinner.
Leaving Athens, we travel toward the mountains of central Greece, with stops along the way to stretch and rest. After lunch, we arrive at Delphi — one of the most sacred places of the ancient world — set high on the slopes of Mount Parnassus.
With our guide, we explore the sanctuary at a comfortable pace, moving through its terraced layout and learning how people once came here seeking guidance from the Oracle of Apollo. The sweeping views across the valley help explain why the ancient Greeks believed this was the center of the world. We then visit the Delphi Museum before continuing on to the mountain town of Arachova, where we check in and enjoy dinner after a full and fascinating day.
Today blends countryside traditions with a slower, sensory pace. We drive toward the Nemea region, stopping at a family-run honey workshop and bee museum to learn about Greek beekeeping and taste several varieties of honey. For those interested, there’s the option to observe the hives safely with protective gear.
From there, we continue to one of Greece’s most important wine regions for a guided tasting at a respected winery set among vineyards. After lunch, we drive onward to Nafplio — once the first capital of modern Greece — known for its elegant old town and waterfront promenade. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to unwind and enjoy the relaxed rhythm of this coastal town.
We leave Nafplio this morning and return to Athens to board our ferry to Naxos. As the largest island in the Cyclades, Naxos feels grounded and authentic, with fertile valleys, mountain villages, and a pace that invites you to slow down.
After arrival and check-in, you’ll have time to settle in before an evening walk through town and the castle area. Dinner is at a local restaurant, followed by a sweet stop to try one of Naxos’ well-known waffles — a simple, joyful end to the day.
Today takes us into the agricultural heart of Naxos. We visit the village of Eggares to learn about traditional olive oil production, then continue to Galini for a farm-to-table cooking experience. After walking through the organic farm and gathering ingredients, we prepare a traditional dish together and enjoy the meal we’ve created.
The remainder of the day is free to enjoy the island — whether that means time by the sea, wandering the port town, shopping, or settling into a café with a view as the light changes toward evening.
Today is intentionally unstructured, giving you the freedom to enjoy Naxos in your own way. You might spend time at one of the island’s beautiful beaches, wander Naxos Town and the Kastro, explore inland villages, or visit ancient sites scattered across the countryside.
Your tour leader will be available to help you plan a day that suits your energy and interests — whether active, relaxed, or somewhere in between.
After breakfast, we ferry to Paros, an island known for its whitewashed villages, clear waters, and long maritime history. Once checked in, the afternoon is free to explore Naousa, one of the Cyclades’ most charming harbor towns, filled with cafés, small shops, and easy places to linger.
As evening approaches, we gather for dinner as the harbor lights come on, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere that makes Paros so inviting.
Today we explore Paros more deeply, beginning in Parikia with a visit to the Church of a Hundred Doors, one of Greece’s most important religious sites. We then travel across the island, stopping at marble quarries that explain Paros’ historic importance, and continue to Lefkes, a hill village of quiet lanes and shaded squares.
After lunch, we return to Naousa, where there’s time to wander, sit by the water, and enjoy the simple pleasures of island life.
Our final full day is free to enjoy Paros in the way that feels right to you. Options include a short ferry to Antiparos, a coastal boat trip, village walks, time at Paros Park, or simply relaxing by the sea. In the evening, we come together for a farewell dinner — a chance to reflect, laugh, and celebrate the journey we’ve shared.
Today we'll head to the airport in the morning for our 45-minute flight back to Athens, where the tour will officially come to an end. From here you can connect with your departing flight home.
