About Our Community

What is Women Travel Tribe?

We are a global community for curious women aged 50+ who want to explore the world – and connect with kindred spirits. Since 2019 we've maintained a wonderfully active Facebook group and a bi-weekly travel-related newsletter. Our members trade tips, share stories, and support one another through joyful, respectful conversation and experience. Women Travel Tribe also offers small-group tours designed exclusively for women 50+. With thoughtful itineraries and trusted partners, we bring you unforgettable travel experiences in remarkable places — and an incredible group of women to share them with!

Is Women Travel Tribe a tour operator?

The Women Travel Tribe works in partnership with a handful of carefully chosen, professional, small-group tour operators. We select destinations and co-create itineraries in conjunction with our partners, who then operate the tours. All of the tour operators we work with must uphold the same high standards of service and integrity that we hold dear.

Cultivating these relationships, developing a level of trust, and planning extraordinary, culturally immersive itineraries allows us to offer our members a kind of tour that you cannot find anywhere else!

Do I have to be exactly 50—or well over?

Whether it's joining our diverse community or one of our great tours, we welcome all women age 50 and over.

Tour Basics

How many women are in each group?

Typically, groups range from 8 – 12 women. Each tour page on our website specifies the minimum and maximum for that trip.

Are flights included?

Flights are not included in the prices of our tours. However, our tour operators are often very willing to assist you in finding the best deals to and from the destination.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions/allergies?

Yes. All of our tours can accommodate any dietary restrictions and/or allergies as long as the tour operator is aware in advance. Tour operators will send you questions regarding these topics once you book your spot on a trip. With that said, some destinations might offer limited options for meals if you have certain restrictions.

Do I have to be physically fit to go on a trip? What activity level should I expect?

Every destination and itinerary is different. Each tour page on our website lists a "Physical Level", along with details about what to expect. Please read these sections carefully.

Some tours involve more walking, stairs, long drives, early mornings and other potentially challenging scenarios. It is expected that tour participants will be able to function independently throughout each trip.

It's also important to consider any pre-existing health conditions you may have to determine if a particular tour is appropriate for you. It is often an excellent idea to consult your healthcare provider.

What are the accommodations like?

Each destination varies and our trips use a wide variety of accommodation. But, in all cases, we strive for safety, comfort and cleanliness. Each room generally offers private bathrooms, the standard amenities you'd expect from quality accommodation, and a complete breakfast.

I usually travel solo. Will I fit in?

Absolutely! We have welcomed many women on our tours who normally travel solo. The relaxed, culturally focused style of these trips makes them ideal for women travelers of all types to enjoy and share unforgettable experiences together.

Booking & Payments

How do I reserve my spot? Is there a deposit?

To secure a spot on a trip, simply click the "Book Now" button on the specific tour page and follow the steps to pay the deposit. Once the deposit is paid, the tour operator will send you a booking confirmation and additional details to help you prepare. Please read the Payment Terms carefully, as each tour has different terms.

Do you offer single rooms?

On most tours, you can choose between having a private room or sharing a room with another traveler (you will be paired in a room with two beds). Single rooms carry an additional cost, but we work hard to keep that cost minimal. Some tours have a limited number of single rooms, while a handful offer only single rooms — clearly specified on the tour page.

Do all trips have guaranteed departures?

No. Each tour requires a minimum number of traveler bookings before it can be confirmed. If a tour does not meet the minimum after a certain period, it will be canceled and all deposits will be refunded in full. The tour operator will inform you of the timeline once you book your spot.

Safety & Health

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, Women Travel Tribe and our tour partners require that all participants have travel insurance. It's important to have a policy that covers both your health and the cost of your trip.

What happens if I get sick during a trip?

All tour operators and tour leaders are dedicated to the health and safety of our groups. They are ready to ensure that any medical situation receives proper attention and care at any time of day or night.

How do you handle mobility concerns or medical equipment?

Each tour page includes a Physical Requirements section that explains the level of fitness needed for that tour. Some tours can accommodate mobility concerns and medical equipment more easily. Please read the tour pages carefully and reach out if you have questions.

Preparing for the Trip

How do I prepare for a trip?

Once you book and a tour is confirmed, the tour operator will provide all the information you need: visas, packing lists, money tips, Wi-Fi, adapters, weather, local customs and more.

During the Trip

Who will be my tour leader?

Our tour leaders are highly vetted professionals with years of experience. Your tour leader will be present from arrival until departure day — unflappable, socially dynamic, and capable of pulling a rabbit out of a hat whenever necessary.

Is there free time on Women Travel Tribe tours?

Yes! Free time is scheduled into each itinerary. Travelers can opt in or out of any activity, making the trip as relaxed or adventurous as they wish.

Changes & Cancellations

What is your cancellation policy?

Every tour operator has its own cancellation and refund policy. These can be found in the operator's terms, and it's important to read them carefully. Many tours allow a refund of the deposit for a limited time after booking, but this does not apply to all tours.

Can I transfer my booking to another woman or a later date?

This depends on the tour operator's policies and the situation. If you want to transfer a booking to another person or a later date, please contact the operator directly to inquire.
